Antioch: Authorities Unable to Locate Pedestrian Struck by Train

At 5:20 pm Friday, a freight train was stopped in downtown Antioch after a report that it had hit a pedestrian.

Both the Antioch Police Department and Contra Costa County Fire Protection District firefighters responded and began searching the area. The train had stopped.

Police say no one was hit, but a bicycle was struck and possibly a dog but were unable to locate the dog.

IMG_3139According to a witness, they said the bicycle was hit and sucked under the train along with a dog, but the male took off running. As of 6:00 pm, police could not locate a bicycle.

Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff also assisted with a helicopter to search overhead.

By 6:22 pm, the train began moving again.
