Antioch: Arson Suspected in Lynn House Gallery Fire

by ECT

A fire broke out Friday evening around 10:00 pm at the Lynn House Gallery in Antioch that left the building damaged after a Christmas tree was propped up against the building and set fire.  Here is a statement released by Diane Gibson-Gray, Executive Director, of the Arts & Cultural Foundation in Antioch about the fire.

First of all, I’d like to thank the police and fire department for responding so quickly; damages could have been much worse. A Christmas tree was propped up by the garage and set on fire. In addition, the call was dispatched during the search for a kidnapping victim who was later found. It is frustrating to me that during such an intense time for the whole police department that an officer’s time was taken away from the search to respond to an arson call. The damage us limited to the garage, so Kimball Elementary School’s upcoming Art4Schools Exhibit will not be impacted. City staff has been very responsive and I will be meeting with public services director, Mike Bechtholdt, on Monday to determine the next steps to repair the damage.

So sorry to hear about the arson! The Lynn House is such a treasure for Antioch and Downtown to be impacted by hoodlums! Hope the repairs needed are minimal!
