Just before 8:30 pm Friday, Contra Costa County Firefighters responded to a boat on fire in the City of Antioch on Wilbur Ave.
The fire sent a large cloud of smoke into the air as the boat was fully engulfed, however, no other structures of vegetation was threatened. Crews were on scene for about an hour as the abandoned boat was full of wood and garbage.
The fire appears suspicious in nature and is suspected arson.
The boat had been sitting on the side of the road for several weeks, if not longer, and was scheduled to be towed Monday.
