Antioch: 1 Dead, 1 Critically Wounded in Afternoon Shooting

by ECT

IMG_7512IMG_7581

At 2:34 pm, Antioch Police Department (APD) Officers responded to a report of a shooting at an apartment complex in the 3900 Block of Delta Fair Blvd.

The officers arrived to find a 23-Year-Old male from Pittsburg inside a vehicle in the parking lot suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. At the same time, other calls came in of a second shooting victim down in a neighboring apartment complex on Hudson Ct.

Officers responded there as well, and located the 28-Year-Old victim also suffering from a gunshot wound. Medical personnel arrived on both scenes and tended to the victims. The victim located on Hudson Ct. is an Antioch resident and was transported to a local area hospital for treatment; however, the victim found on Delta Fair Blvd was pronounced deceased at the scene.

As initial information was being developed, it was learned the shooting actually took place in the parking lot of the apartment complex on Delta Fair Blvd., but the surviving victim had fled to the neighboring apartments on Hudson Ct. where he was ultimately located by responding officers. As of this writing, this second victim is still in surgery. We are in the preliminary stages of this investigation, and no further information will be released at this time.

Anyone with information regarding this case is encouraged to call Detective Lowther with the Antioch Police Department at (925)779-6943.

Any further information or additional press releases will be provided by the Investigations Bureau at (925) 779-6939. You may also text a tip to 274637 (CRIMES) using key word ANTIOCH

This is out of hand. I feel really bad for our police officers and our chief because the City Council lied about more officers, lied about where measure C was going, our police look bad because the council will not give them proper funding. Instead, they worry about other things such as feral cats, building more homes downtown and finding more money in trying to tax us all. I’ve had it. Anyone in office, you are fired in the next election. Mayor Harper, you need to be recalled NOW!

Some perspective via Chief Cantando from yesterdays ECT Post

I spoke earlier about our staffing, which is currently at 88 sworn officers. In case you didn’t know, Antioch is the 2nd most populous city in Contra Costa County. Concord, which is the most populous city currently has 148 sworn officers. Richmond, the third most populous city currently has 190 sworn officers. I don’t say this looking for sympathy. I’m saying it to put things in perspective. With our current staffing numbers, we can only staff critical assignments.

Wake up City Council!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

pv Jul 9, 2014 - 7:42 pm

So agree with your post. I can’t for the life of me figure out how the Antioch City Council allowed Sycamore to become what it is. Harper definitely needs to go, so does Tescorino. Not only have they done zilch, they are Seeno minions. I think Mayor Harper just got himself elected for free Friday breakfast.

James Jul 8, 2014 - 5:26 pm

ECT is lying to you all everyday. Our mayor says crime is getting better! We all know the truth.

Mary Jones Jul 8, 2014 - 5:27 pm

Poor taste in showing the victim of the shooting. I am so tired of these shootings.

CCOC Jul 8, 2014 - 6:57 pm

Every media outlet in the country does that.

Its call reporting the news.

Maybe now the neighbors can sleep better. Jul 8, 2014 - 9:22 pm

It might be poor taste, but it’s legal. No laws were broken and my guess the guy shot isn’t without past that got him shot.

marveshia Jul 9, 2014 - 9:04 am

Dont speak on my btother on social media period

Reginald Jamal Brown Jul 9, 2014 - 10:43 am

@marveshia

Learn to spell and the difference between social media and an online news reporting outlet.

What, they didn’t teach you that in continuation school?

marveshia Jul 10, 2014 - 4:08 pm

Like I said don’t speak apoun my brother!

Reginald Jamal Brown Jul 9, 2014 - 10:42 am

HAHA! I agree with you. More air and less ghetto people I see walking around.

? Jul 8, 2014 - 5:40 pm

I love when these low life’s kill each other. More air for me to breath.

Lisa Jul 8, 2014 - 9:14 pm

You sorry pick of shit u dnt knw the first thing of what happened…

Reginald Jamal Brown Jul 9, 2014 - 10:31 am

Lisa,

Hello there crime supporter. No one cares what your version is. Go tell your brothas and sistas to go do their crime somwhere else. No one wants you here.

drea Jul 8, 2014 - 11:09 pm

Your an idiot. You know nothing about the victims. They had families and friends who will never see their loved one again. You sound so ignorant. You clearly have never lost anyone or you would never say something so disrespectful. Your a piece of shit for that.

Reginald Jamal Brown Jul 9, 2014 - 10:48 am

@drea

Hey you sound exactly like what you stated in your last sentence. Oh, imagine the irony! LOL.

Go be a ghetto crime supporter somewhere else. Even Jeffrey Dalmer had a family and so did Hitler.. so guess what? WHO CARES about their family.

Next thing you’re going to say is that the criminals are fathers and “aspiring rappers” and all kinds of blah blah blah about how much of a productive member of society they are because they got their GED and one of them was going to be the next Raiders football player. Why don’t you post an elementary school pic from the 4th grade while you’re at it.

Give me a break…

malcosiris Jul 9, 2014 - 12:24 am

Reveal who you are dumb ass maybe you maybe next…you should wish death on no one. Simply because the next victim could be you or someone in your family!

Marty Fernandez Jul 8, 2014 - 5:48 pm

The next city council meeting is Tuesday 7/22 at 7 pm. Every one of you reading this needs to be there and show how pissed off you are. That is the way to get them to do something. If they don’t go to the next meeting and do it again!

pv Jul 9, 2014 - 7:45 pm

Been there, done that. Very little reward for attending City Council meetings in Antioch. You just leave depressed because we, have, Mayor Harper who has to defer to everyone else for everything that goes on in Antioch, except for Friday Breakfast!

Chuck Jul 8, 2014 - 5:59 pm

Marty, They will just pull the three minute rule at the council meeting then pacify you until you do the same song and dance over and over. Jim S. needs to get with a couple of the real pissed off citizens and file the recall papers. You probably would not have a problem getting signatures. Reginald would probably help too.

Reginald Jamal Brown Jul 8, 2014 - 8:50 pm

Of course I’d be happy to help 😉

Flush them all down the toilet with the council. Jul 8, 2014 - 6:56 pm

Sounds like they finally got the person they were after. This has been going on for a few months.

Marty Fernandez Jul 8, 2014 - 7:02 pm

Unless you find something the council is doing illegally, I doubt it, then recall is of no use.

I have been going to council meetings for 12 years and I have seen who gets what done. The 3 minute rule is that each person gets 3 minutes to talk. You can say a lot in 3 minutes if you plan well.

teach kindness Jul 8, 2014 - 8:46 pm

Well said Marty. And if everyone who was mad spoke for three minutes the council would have nothing to do but listen. City council meetings and school board meetings are not well attended so when there is a full audience the boards start listening. If you want change you have to be the change.

Where did Antioch go wrong??????? Jul 8, 2014 - 7:08 pm

If I were still an Antioch resident, i would go to the city council meeting and ask them to request help via mutual aid from CHP the J Team and other agencies. If antioch has positions that are not filled then that money can go to funding this action. If council refuses to do this then you know they do not care about you and all they are doing is trying to weather the ghetto storm and save money.

teach kindness Jul 8, 2014 - 8:50 pm

I was thinking of attending also although I am not a resident of Antioch. I am considering taking my shopping to Tracy or even to Concord. When I use to live in Antioch my husband made me stay away from two roads in Antioch, now he suggests I stay out altogether. The city council can save money of crime fighting but when we take our shopping to other towns they are going to lose.

Righteous in the 'Wood Jul 8, 2014 - 8:15 pm

Horrible. I feel for the good people in Antioch. I drove down Delta Fair at 2:50 PM today after picking up my son at LMC, and did not see any sign of the shooting, drove right by that whole scene. I did see a delivery truck blocking the slow lane on DF Blvd right past the light where E Leland becomes DF Blvd., but no police, and no obvious signs that I had drove right through the whole deal. How is that if I was only 20-30 minutes past when this was reported to have happened? Anyway, seems to be a recurring theme lately in Antioch. If I were an Antiochsident, I’d be really angry too.

Reginald Jamal Brown Jul 8, 2014 - 8:57 pm

“Antioch, the city where the criminals are protected and the garbage elected”

If you all think this is bad wait till you see how much crime increases within the next 6 months! All of you who voted for measure C were flat out lied to. Nothing will change unless the mayor and council (except for one council member) are replaced with people who care about tax paying law abiding citizens.

Wake up voters! The criminal element is winning.

Disgruntled Home Owner Jul 8, 2014 - 9:50 pm

Thank you!!! Anyone who voted for Measure C should lose thier voting rights. It’s like citizens voted for whoever had the biggest signs up. That’s when you can tell we have a large percentage lazy citizens living here in Antioch. For Pete’s sake they need to read before they vote. This is my nice calm version of how I really feel.

Reginald Jamal Brown Jul 9, 2014 - 10:51 am

@Disgruntled Home Owner

I’m so sick and tired of the way the city is ran and the crime people are putting up with. I never sugarcoat anything and will always express my opinion in the most candid way possible. It is what it is.

Yes, there are a ton of lazy ignorant people in Antioch. That is part of the problem why the city puts up with these ghetto criminals.

Say it how it is… people need to wake up.

evander Jul 9, 2014 - 3:16 pm

And that’s to you mr. Reginald

V Jul 9, 2014 - 4:24 pm

Very true!

pv Jul 9, 2014 - 7:53 pm

That’s why we can’t get control over Seeno either because so many do not care about what goes on in Antioch because they are busy raising their kids, etc., or just don’t care. We have to be a city that dots our I’s and crosses our “T’s.” I think there will be several vacancies because Agopian is stick, Rocha is retiring, Tescorino was appointed by Seeno and his minion Harper, and that just leaves Monica whom I like and I’m hoping she can help Antioch take its schools back so junior high kids and their teachers quit getting attacked without any repercussions on top of the assault. how deplorable is that, Antioch citizens pay all these property taxes and their children can’t eve get a decent education without being worried about being assaulted..

evander Jul 9, 2014 - 3:14 pm

You sound more ignorant then anybody on here with your comments! You were probably picked on in school and never had enough balls to stand up for yourself now you sit on here and hide behind your computer insulting other human beings who still live and breath the same air you do! You really are a heartless coward!

Reginald Jamal Brown Jul 9, 2014 - 7:27 pm

It would be prudent to address who you are responding to. If it is me then let me suggest that you and your low life criminal “homeboys” move some place else.

You sound more like a section 8, welfare participant sucking off the government tit. BTW your welcome my tax money put food in your table so you won’t have to starve.

Reginald Jamal Brown Jul 9, 2014 - 7:31 pm

I forgot to add something, evader:

Sticks and stones will break my bones… I’m glad I got under your skin 🙂 it. Sakes me feel so good knowing how mad you are when I say the truth about ghetto scum in this city. Rather, let me say, your friends and family.

Don’t fool around and get your other ear bitten off, evander.

Ernie Jul 8, 2014 - 9:55 pm

I know I sound like a conspiracy theorist, but I would look into who (if anyone) is buying up real estate in these neighborhoods, to see if there is any trend developing. Things are not always as obvious as they seem. I hope I’m way off in my thinking, but either way, Antioch has a major problem. Ghetto rats are well aware that they outnumber the police 20-1. God help us all!
.

Marty Fernandez Jul 9, 2014 - 8:41 am

Ernie, investors are buying up the property. Well Point is a company of investors from the 49er’s foot ball team. There are Russian groups and Chinese investors. Last I checked the 49er’s owned over 350 homes and that was about 1 1/2 to 2 years ago.

We need to pass the Rental Owners Business License Tax so these people pay their share of the infrastructure cost such as police and roads. In November vote YES on the Rental Owners Business License Tax!

V Jul 9, 2014 - 4:39 pm

We can all do our part by reporting section 8 violations and fraud to the Contra Costa Co housing authority. If you suspect a house in your neighbor hood is a section 8 rental and you have witnessed illegal activity or people living there that don’t belong, report it. It’s the least we can do for our neighbor hoods. Take Action, let’s clean up Antioch.

Marty Fernandez Jul 9, 2014 - 6:01 pm

V, Have you done this…filing a complaint? I have, even had the police reports and everything I needed. It doesn’t do any good.

Years ago under Chief Hyde we did manage to get our street back but that isn’t the complaint I am talking about.

Where did Antioch go wrong??????? Jul 10, 2014 - 8:57 pm

I would like to ask just how chief Hyde made anything better around Antioch. From what I remember, he was referred to as chief Hyde and seek. I think he should have paid a little more attention to his troops then attending his personally motivated PTSD training. If there was any taking back of your street it was because of the hard working cops or involved citizens.

pv Jul 9, 2014 - 8:02 pm

I was told when I bought my home in Black Diamond that I didn’t have to worry about section 8 because no one was allowed to rent or sell their home for two years, a lender’s requirement. So, I thought I was safe from all of that for at least two years anyway. Well, I’ve got news for you. Seeno’s still doing his shady mortgage deals and Antioch let’s him get away with it because on my street alone there are three empty houses and another three that have turned over before two years. FBI or no FBI, Seeno and his shady companies do whatever Seeno wants in Antioch. Pathetic a skumbag like Seeno gets his hands on so much land for purposes that are against environmental and other laws that citizens have voted in for a reason because of a crooked City Council and Mayor. I can’t way until Seeno has to pay his Karma bill in hell for the grading he’s done to Contra Costa’s hills, the wildlife he has destroyed, his ugly retaining walls and landscaping all over the place, his broken sprinklers that waste water all over town and no one fines for it.

Chuck Jul 9, 2014 - 6:14 pm

Careful V they will try to sue the city for picking on them. Remember that one a couple years ago. They could have put a dozen more cops on the street instead of defending themselves from entitlement 8ers.

V Jul 9, 2014 - 6:33 pm

I guess we can all just sit back and put up with it and do nothing……. or move……….oh wait that’s right, I can’t afford to move to a decent city in the bay area. Well this was a decent city, looks like I’m stuck.

pv Jul 9, 2014 - 8:06 pm

No, VOTE in some new council members at the next election. Most of the City Council is going to be open. We also need a new BART Board of Director for East County.

Julio Jul 10, 2014 - 6:46 am

pv, only two seats are open, Mr. Agopian and Tiscarino. Rocha, Harper and Tiscarino do Seeno’s dirty work and the city manager has joined ranks there. He is the one who allowed Seeno to shut down Somersville Road and make this traffic mess worse. Antioch kisses his feet and the citizens suffer. Wait until we sell him the golf course. It will happen. The city manager has already mentioned it in a council meeting.

Street side Jul 9, 2014 - 9:19 pm
