It seems like another day and another shooting for the City of Antioch as a 7-yeard-old boy was shot and transported by helicopter to Children’s Hospital in Oakland.  The incident occurred around 4:17 pm on William Reed Drive.

Here is the official press release from Antioch PD.

Antioch Officers responded to a residence on William Reed Drive after receiving a call of multiple gun shots fired into the back yard of the residence. A 7 year old male child was struck by one round and transported to Children’s Hospital with a non-life threatening injury. The child and his parents were visiting from out of town for a BBQ. No other persons were injured.

Information developed during the investigation shows the responsible fired multiple rounds into the rear yard from an area near the G Street overcrossing.

This preliminary information is made available by the Field Services Bureau.

Now its not safe to have a Bar-B-Que in your backyard???? There is a serious issue in Antioch-gang war spill over into Antioch from Oakland? I can’t tell you the number of times I hear PD run someone and their information comes back from Oakland or “car last seen westbound on Highway 4 heading back toward Oakland” I have also been told that that a new “group” is moving into the sycamore area and that there is a battle brewing over control in that area. This is just so sad and sooooo wrong!
