At 10:21 pm Sunday, Contra Costa County firefighters were dispatched to a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle on eastbound Highway 4 near Laurel in the City of Antioch.
Upon arrival, Engine 88 reported one person down in the roadway and immediately requested a medical helicopter. They also requested CHP to shut down the freeway so they could land the helicopter on scene.
By 10:41 pm, Battalion 8 reported the freeway was being shut down. They were going to attempt to shutdown the Freeway at Hillcrest.
By 10:43 pm, CHP issued a SIGALERT confirming all lanes were blocked.
By 11:09 pm, all lanes were open.
