It is the 4th of July already? Did I skip a month?
Sadly, no month skipped.
This happens when you live in a county that does not allow fireworks. People will “hide” and set them off in open dry bushy areas. I rather them set off fireworks on a street where water is easily accessible. Or have designated areas like the City of Dublin.
Fireworks should be done away with entirely. Their noise is disruptive to people and a death knell to pets and they cause trees to light up like they have on our street. Several trees turned down along with fences and roofs.
We would leave the house with our terrified pets, but then who would be left behind to make sure our house is not burned down because some IDIOT thinks he’s celebrating.
I agree totally! There is no reason for noise-making fireworks. These are not being set out in any celebration of our country’s independence. They are set by idiots who only want to make noise and disrupt things! I’ve called 911 to assist people who were so upset over this noise that they exhibited the heart-attack symptoms.
We have to put up with this crap on July 4th and then New Year’s Eve! No fireworks are permitted in Contra Costa County … unless put on by professionals over the river or on the fair grounds.
A couple of drones and/or alert residents would put a stop to such nonsense. Our house abuts an area devoid of houses but has a lot of dry vegetation. Drones and night goggles will help spot the culprits and they will be dealt with accordingly. Thirty people have already committed to keep watch day and night and all night long if necessary. It’s amazing how dogs will let you know if someone is loitering in an open field.
No need to shoot off these things in areas that are as dry as it is here. Have we learned nothing from the wildfires in other parts of California in recent years? The police should be arresting people setting them off for attempted arson.
No fireworks of any sorts are permitted in this country. Even with a lot of rain, we are now in a dry period. It’s downright dangerous to set off fireworks anywhere. I noticed that in many areas (residential and otherwise) people have not cut down the dry brush. That’s asking for trouble.
Quit complaining, who are any of you to say what anyone is or is not allowed to do. I thought this is the United States after all right? If someone so chooses to set off fireworks and something happened as a result of it then they should be held liable.
Captain, don’t be a worse bore than you already are! In case you forgot, there is a law now that NO FIREWORKS OF ANY SORTS ARE ALLOWED TO BE SET OFF IN CONTRA COSTA COUNTY! One exception: The ONLY ones allowed are those put on by professionals in a few designated places! Capisce?
What part of that law don’t YOU understand? Or are you that dense!
So? According to you, Captain save a hoe, after my house burns down to the ground, I will have the pleasure of charging the fireworks setter liable? Is that what you mean? If so, then you need your meds adjusted, buddy!
It’s because of people like you that Antioch has the reputation is has in recent times.
Setting off fireworks during a time of very dry, hold weather is just plain dangerous no matter where they are set. This is why the County forbids such activity. Not only because of the noise but also the extreme fire danger and damage to property. So, any city located within this country is mandated to keep any firework activity to cease.
