The Pittsburg Police Department stated that a male was rescued from a storm drain after he took shelter from an assault.
According to police, the incident occurred in the 200 block of Babbling Brook Way where Contra Costa County Fire performed a confined space rescue at 10:50 am Saturday.
The male was spotted after a citizen saw smoke coming from a storm drain and heard the male yelling for help. The rescue was performed by Station 82 fire personnel where he was safely rescued.
Police say once he was brought to the surface, the discovered he was assaulted in the community of Bay Point. Firefighters said the man was bleeding and not really alert. The injuries were not life threatening.
The male was taken to the hospital while the assault is being investigated by Bay Point Deputies.
