Update 9:45 am via Pittsburg Police

At 11:38 pm, Pittsburg Police Officers responded to the area of W. 10th Street and Enterprise Circle for a solo vehicle collision.  The vehicle had collided into a power pole with power lines draped over it.  The solo occupant, 41 year old male adult from Oakland, was found deceased inside of the vehicle.  He was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown into the backseat as a result of the collision.

The vehicle was stolen from in front of a residence in the 600 block of Rock Spray Circle minutes prior to the collision.  The owners of the vehicle were inside of their home when they heard their car start and as they looked out the front window of their home they saw it driving away.  They were able to get into another vehicle and attempted to follow their stolen car; however the suspect reached speeds of over 70 M.P.H. as he fled eastbound on W. 10th Street.  The suspect lost control of the vehicle and collided into two power poles before coming to rest on W. 10th Street near Enterprise Circle.  It was not raining during this time and the weather was not a factor.

W. 10th Street is currently closed between Enterprise Circle and Beacon Street due to power lines in the roadway.  PG&E crews are on scene and the roadway is expected to be open by noon today.  Power has been disrupted in the W. 10th Street area as a result.

I love it. Saved us the trouble and expense of court and prison. Sorry for the owner of the stolen vehicle, hope they had insurance. I doubt they will get restitution from the perp.

I’m all for trying to get your stuff back, but really this chasing of the suspect lead to his death. A car isn’t worth someones life. Now they’ll never get that car back..
