Our thoughts and prayers are with the Parsons’ family as former Antioch Mayor Barney Parsons passed away Monday afternoon. Martha Parsons announced that her husband Barney Parsons passed away peacefully with family by his side after a long illness.
Parsons served as mayor in 1973-1974 that helped bring the Sears Center, now the Nick Rodriguez Community Center to Antioch. Since retiring from politics, he has served on several boards and been heavily involved in the Antioch community.
“Thank you for all your prayers! Your kindness overwhelms me! Please continue praying, as they give me strength to go on,” said Martha Parsons via social media.
He truly was a steward of Antioch and his efforts will be missed. We ask you send prayers to the family.

Prayers to the Parsons’ family.
Martha, Praying God lifts you up and that you are surrounded by family and friends at this time. I’m so sorry for your loss.
I will miss my friend and kind critic, Barney Parsons. Barney was a true gentleman with a great sense of humor. His support for the Contra Costa County Fair and service on its Fair Board are greatly appreciated. You served your community well, Barney, and you will not be forgotten. Our condolences to Martha and the family.
