We are sad to report that the Pittsburg Police Department has sent out a press release stating the 2 year old pedestrian involved in a collision earlier this week has sadly died from her injuries.  This was a tragic accident and our thoughts and prayers are with her family.  The driver has been cooperative with investigators and impairment or speeds do not appear to be a factor in this collision.

We were told earlier this morning by family members the child died last night an we are sending prayers to her family and to the family of the driver as well. Last night, Danee Lumbre, the child’s mother, wrote the following on the donation page.

At 6:39pm tonight 9/26/2013, Our Beautiful Princess Ameeya was called home by God. All though we will not be bringing her home with us, God has shown us that he has a bigger purpose for my baby. Again Thomas and I thank everyone of you for your continued love, support and prayers.

A fund has been set up to assist the family where as of 1:45 pm today, $4,440 has been raised: Click here to go to the donation page

On Sept. 23, here was the original information via Pittsburg PD:

At 6pm today Pittsburg Police Officers responded to an auto vs. pedestrian collision on Jimno Ave. A 2 year-old girl was visiting an address in the 100 block of Jimno Ave with her family. She was outside playing with several other children. She ran into the street after the ball and the driver of a passing vehicle didn’t see her and hit her. There were several parked cars on the street and the driver was driving a sports utility vehicle.

The child was transported to Children’s Hospital with serious injuries.

There is no update on her condition at this time. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle stopped and attempted to provide aid once he realized he had struck a child.  The driver is a Pittsburg Resident, and is cooperating with our investigation.

Alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors in the collision.

The following information was provided by the Pittsburg Police Dept via Press Release from Lt. Raman at 7:59 pm

Little Angel Ameeya is now playing with your Little Angel Sophia in Heaven. I can see the two of them playing now. While we miss both of them so much, we know that they are in a better place.
