At 5:25 pm Tuesday, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District firefighters were dispatched to an office building in the area of Lone Tree Way and Sunset Lane for a report of a building on fire in the City of Antioch.
While responding, crews observed a large column of smoke and upon arrival, located heavy flames coming from an office building which was extending to the exterior of a neighboring home.
Crews were able to quickly knock down the exterior fire of the home, however, the commercial fire of the office building extended to the attic and roof.
By 6:04 pm, all firefighters were pulled from the building due to a roof that was starting to sink and flames coming from the building–it became a major safety issue. Fire crews were ordered by the Battalion Chief to move into defensive fire attack and were to begin using a deck gun to battle the fire. The fire was contained to the building of origin.
Officers from the Antioch Police Department were on scene providing traffic control and a heavy traffic backup was reported on Lone Tree Way.
As of 6:11 pm, its unclear how the fire started or if there was any injuries.
