At 11:51 pm Sunday, Contra Costa County firefighters responded to a report of a residential structure fire in the 1100 block of Medanos St in the City of Antioch.

Engine 81 reported smoke and flames coming from the home and found two homes that were involved in the fire. With a large fire involving two homes and the likleyhood it could spread to more homes, a 2nd alarm response was requested.

The fire was held to the 2 buildings of origin because of an aggressive fire attack and well-coordinated team work with on scene crews. Both homes sustained heavy damage.

According to Battalion Chief Rob Lutzow, a family of five was displaced from one home and the second home was unoccupied.  No injuries were reported.

The cause is currently under investigation said Lutzow.
