The 11th annual Mary Allan Fellows Awards Dinner is set for Sept.18 at Lone Tree Golf & Event Center in Antioch sponsored by the Antioch Schools Education Foundation.
In total, the foundation will honor 16 winning teachers. Those being honored are include four Fellows winners:
- Jennifer Carrigan, Sutter Elementary
- Stevi Grimm, Antioch High;
- Mark Libbey, Dozier-Libbey Medical.
- Deer Valley High’s Michelle Stark, AUSD Teacher of the Year, will also receive a Fellows Award.
Finalists are:
- Samantha Helton, Park Middle
- Lisa Henley, Grant Elementary
- Debbie Karp, Park Middle
- Katy Kelley, Grant Elementary
- Heather McGovern, Orchard Park.
The semifinalists are:
- Megan Cain, Fremont Elementary
- Steven Kestner, Sutter Elementary
- Darrin Neutz, Dallas Ranch Middle
- Alvin Sandford, Jack London Elementary
- Kathe Saylor, Park Middle.
Additionally, there is Kristy Kennedy, John Muir Elementary, as the AUSD Teacher of the Year runner-up. And, Matthew Richards of Antioch Middle earns the special Barbara Herendeen Technical Education grant.
The event’s guest speaker is Stan Murphy, 2005 California Teacher of the Year and a finalist for National Teacher of the Year. Murphy taught for 46 years in addition to coaching and counseling.
