Update: Good Samaritan Pulls Female From Vehicle Prior to Train Striking Vehicle

At 9:42 pm Wednesday, the Antioch Police Department and Contra Costa County firefighters responded to a report of a vehicle versus train on Fulton Shipyard Road in the City of Antioch.

Upon arrival, officers located a female who had exited the vehicle prior to the collision with the assistance of a male and the two were able to make it to safety.

According to police, a good Samaritan passing by who pulled the female from the vehicle.

According to firefighters, the female turned onto the railroad tracks thinking it was a road where she traveled an estimated 100-yards before her vehicle became stuck. Meanwhile, a train was approaching and spotted the vehicle ahead of time allowing the train to slow down prior to impact. It is estimated the impact was at around 55-mph.

AMR was requested, however, medical was declined. No other injuries were reported. Police are currently on scene investigating.
