by ECT

On January 30th, 2016 at 11:00 am, the El Cerrito Police Department, with the assistance of Antioch Police Department SWAT Officers, announced the arrest of two Antioch residents after serving a high risk search warrant in the 2900 block of Larkspur Dr.

According to El Cerrito Police, the warrant was in response to a armed robbery that occurred in the 1700 block of Lexington Ave at 6:09 pm where the victim was walking south on the BART path when she was approached by the suspect.

The suspect brandished a handgun, threatened to shoot the victim, and demanded her cell phone. The suspect fled northbound with the victim’s cell phone. The suspect was described as a 20-25 year old black male, 6-04, 175, dark clothing, shoulder length dreads, smooth skin, and medium complexion.

An investigative lead came in days later when we found out that the cell phone belonging to the victim had been sold to a business in Solano County, which buys used cellular phones. That business provided information about the female who sold them the cell phone and a male that was with her at the time, who was similar in appearance to the suspect in the above listed case.

By the time we got there, SWAT had already moved onto a call across town.. looking back, we should have snapped a photo of at least the El Cerrito Police vehicle on scene.
