by ECT

Pittsburg Police announced Wednesday that they have made an arrest in a September 24 homicide shooting in City Park.

On Sunday evening at around 7:00 P.M., Pittsburg Police Officers responded to the eastern portion of the Pittsburg City Park, near 17th Street and Railroad Avenue, in regards to a reported shooting.

Officers arrived on scene within 90 seconds of receiving the call and located a 20 year-old male suffering  from gunshot wounds.

Pittsburg Police Officers immediately began performing lifesaving efforts on the victim.  The victim later succumbed to his injuries on scene. Pittsburg Police Department Detectives took over the investigation and began following up on leads.  During the investigation Detectives were able to determine the victim, Joe Escobedo (20 year old Pittsburg resident) and suspect knew each other and have had confrontations in the past.

Detectives were able to locate witnesses and review city video surveillance to aid their investigation.  Late last week Detectives identified and obtained a Ramey Warrant for Juan Munoz (19 Years-Old) and an unnamed juvenile for the shooting death of victim Escobedo.

Early Friday morning, the Pittsburg Police Department SWAT team served Search Warrants at residences in the 100 block of Jimno Avenue and the 100 block of Davi Avenue.   During the service of these warrants, Detectives located and arrested Juan Munoz (19 Years-Old) and the Juvenile suspect. In addition, Detectives located a firearm they believe was the weapon used against Escobedo.

Yesterday, Pittsburg Detectives presented this case  to the District Attorney who filed charges on Juan Hernandez for PC 187 with a $2 million dollar bail.

Not surprised that the victim and suspect knew each other, and had confrontations in the past. And their classless friends and relatives leaving comments here.

Lead a responsible, stable, respectful life – and you won’t have this problem.
