Pittsburg: 1 Dead After Vehicle Strikes Pedestrian

At 7:10 pm Monday, Contra Costa County firefighters responded to a report of a vehicle versus pedestrian in Pittsburg that left one person dead and another injured.

The incident occurred at Willow Pass Road and Seasons Dr. where firefighters arrived on scene to locate one deceased victim and another suffering injuries.

As of 8:29 pm, Pittsburg Police advised the community to avoid the area due to the traffic congestion as a result of the incident. Police say that the roadway will be closed for several hours as they investigate.

By 8:53 pm, Pittsburg Police confirmed this incident resulted in a fatality, but would be releasing more information later in the evening.

9:24 pm Update from Pittsburg Police

Just after 7:00 PM, California Highway Patrol and the Sheriffs Office responded to the area of Willow Pass Road near Loftus Road for two vehicles that were involved in a collision as well as a vehicle that had struck a pedestrian.

One of the drivers, male adult, notified family members that the was involved in a collision with another vehicle at the intersection.  The male driver lives in the area of the collision and family members started arriving on scene.  As one of the family members, female adult, crossed the street southbound on Willow Pass Road from Seasons Drive she was struck by an oncoming vehicle traveling W/B on Willow Pass Road.   Both collisions were reported to dispatch after the female pedestrian was struck.  The female was pronounced deceased on scene.  The driver of the vehicle that struck her remained on scene and is cooperating with officers.    Impairment does not appear to be a factor of this collision at this time.

It was determined that the collision occurred within the Pittsburg city limits at the intersection of Willow Pass Road and Seasons Drive.

Investigators from our Fatal Collision Response Team and Crime Scene investigators are on scene.  The roadway in this area will be closed for several hours.  More information will be provided as it becomes available.
