Today is a great day to begin cleaning out garages and homes of unneeded electronics that can be donated for a cause as the East County Little League has announced a last minute E-Waste Fundraiser for Sunday, April 7th @ Oakley School, 9am-3pm. East County Little League benefits when you recycle your E-Waste and other metal items (fences, bikes, bbqs, water heaters, appliances, cell phones, electrical cords).

Help Johnny Weekly

Taken via East County Little League as AA Baseball Red Sox, Johnny Weekly is currently at Children’s Hospital in Oakland and is working closely with UCSF on his medical needs. He has been hospitalized off and on for the past few weeks. He was originally admitted with what was diagnosed with Kawasaki Syndrome. This is “a potentially fatal inflammatory disease that affects several organ systems in the body including heart, circulatory system, mucous membranes, skin, and immune system”. Johnny has endured temperatures of 108 degrees. He has suffered peeling skin, and undergone 3 very taxing treatments. He seemed to be improving, and was sent home this past Friday, only to be re-admitted early Saturday morning where he underwent emergency surgery on his small intestine. He currently is holding his own. They are watching his enlarged liver very closely for it is taking up much of his stomach area.

To compound the family’s problems, the father was recently laid off from his job at Comcast. The mother recently got a nursing job with Contra Costa County. She was unable to work as she was spending 24/7 with her son at the hospital while her husband tried to keep things normal for the other 2 kids at home. On Monday, the mother was notified she was terminated from her job due attendance.

A fundraiser for the family will be held on April 23rd at Black Bear Diner. Let’s help out and support the Weekly Family!
