CONFIRE Saves Two Antioch Homes After Two-Alarm Fire Response Requested

by ECT

Sunday morning, Contra Costa County firefighters responded to Redrock Dr. in Antioch for a report of a residential structure fire between two homes.

Upon arrival, crews found an exterior fire that had potentially extended into the second story of a home. Worried about a second home, a second-alarm response was requested as a precaution–as Engine 52 and Engine 93 arrived on scene, the 2nd alarm-response was requested.

ConFire was able to prevent the fire from not spreading as fast as originally thought and only sheet rock was damaged on the interior.  The fire also did not spread into the attic, however, there was some roof damage and exterior damage estimated at $17,000 which does not factor in damage to the gas line.

According to Robert Marshall, ConFire fire marshal, he said the quick attack and a little luck was involved in the save because there was little to no wind during the incident.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
