Taking the lead from Jeff Thomas with a strong inside move in Turn 1 of the 17th lap, Scott Busby went on to score his second 20 lap IMCA Modified feature win of the season Saturday night at Antioch Speedway. The race started off with Josh Combs leading a thrilling battle with Carl Berendsen II during the first ten laps. The battle up front got intense at the midway point of the race as there were five cars fighting for the lead.
It was on lap 11 when Thomas made an impressive inside move on the front stretch to grab the lead from Combs. Thomas held command until a lap 16 yellow flag waved for a Berendsen spin from third in Turn 2. Busby made his winning move on lap 17 and scored the impressive victory. Thomas limped to the pits with a flat tire soon after, and Troy Foulger finished second ahead of Alex Wilson.
Mike Corsaro won his first 20 lap Dwarf Car Main Event of the season, and he made the pass on point leader Danny Wagner to get that win. Wagner had a front row start in the non stop event and led the race until Corsaro made his winning pass on the inside through Turns 3 and 4 on lap 15. Corsaro drove to a well earned victory with Wagner holding off tenth starter David Teves to finish third.
Larry Damitz made the most of his front row start in the 20 lap Limited Late Model Main Event. The current point leader led every lap for his third feature win of the season. Heat winner Mark Garner was a close second with Jim Freethy debuting his new car in third.
Jason Jennings won the 20 lap Hobby Stock Main Event, leading all 20 laps in the process. It was heat winner Jordan Swank holding second early on before being passed by Chris Long. Long was passed by eventual second place finisher Danny Jones on lap 13, but Long would settle for third at the checkered flag.
Next Saturday night, racing continues at Antioch Speedway with a program consisting of DIRTcar Late Models, IMCA Sport Modifieds, Hobby Stocks and Dwarf Cars.
