Antioch Police Respond to Domestic Violence Call at County School Board Trustees Home

by ECT

Saturday night around 11:00pm  the Antioch Police Department responded to a domestic violence call at the residence of Contra Costa County Board of Education Trustee Jeffrey Belle.

Although Police did not provide specifics of the incident as they were continuing to gather details, police did confirm Mr. Belle was detained at his residence for questioning, but that he was not arrested.

The Antioch Herald reported speaking with Belle’s Wife, Carmen, where she explained he got in her face, so she pushed him away. He grabbed her arm, so she slapped him and he slapped her back.

In an email Sunday, Jeffrey Belle called the complaint “unfounded”

“I did not slap or even touched her,” said Belle in the email. “My times and life are in Christ alone who will vindicate me.”

When asked if the incident would cause him to step down from the County School Board, he said that an unfounded complaint isn’t a reason to step down from anything.

“I will never step down from serving the people who elected me,” said Belle. “If you were to step down every time your wife of spouse or your boss got upset and complained and lied about you, you probably wouldn’t be employed today.”

Belle’s who represents District 5 covers Bethel Island, Clyde, Knightsen, Oakley, and parts of Antioch, Bay Point, Brentwood, Discovery Bay and Pittsburg.

This trustee is a good example as to why the Contra Costa County Board of Education cannot be taken seriously when criminals are elected. He should step down immediately and just go away for good!

Unfortunate. The more Mr. Belle talks the deeper the whole he digs for himself. He needs to resign. Carmen finally, hopefully will be smart enough to leave this man.

And the voting public elected this guy?? Even after his past history was made public. Oh well, we get what the majority votes for.

He is slick. Can tell you stories and while telling them you get a sense of how very strange and unusual this person is. No I didn’t vote for him. Now we have to figure a way to get him off the county school board.

I think this is just a case of an angry wife. If Mr. Belle did infact touch her he would have been arrested for 243(e)(1). As Antioch P.D. conducted their investigation they found no crime to be committed. It is hard to beleive that Antioch PD is still investigating the incident since police usually make a decsison on the stop while on a DV call.

I would venture to say that neither party gave a statement to APD that there was an assault. If they did then somebody would have been arrested. Per their policy, if there is a claim of domestic violence then the investigating officer SHALL make an arrest.
