Antioch Police Investigate Saturday Night Homicide, Two Others Wounded in Shooting

A shooting in the 1400 block of Sycamore Drive in Antioch Saturday night left one man dead and two others wounded.

Just before 9:00 pm, Antioch Police were dispatched to Sycamore Drive on the report of a shooting. Upon arrival officers found an 18-year-old Pittsburg man unresponsive and suffering from a gunshot wound.

IMG_8099“Life saving measures were implemented and the victim was transported to an area hospital where he subsequently died a short time later,” said Tom Fuhrmann, Investigations Acting Lieutenant. “Also at the scene were two additional victims. They are an 18 year old Antioch male and a 24 year old male out of Pittsburg. Both of these victims had non-life threatening gunshot wounds.”

According to radio traffic, one victim was shot in the head while two others were shot in the leg.

Fuhrmann stated both were transported to an area hospital where they were treated and have been released.

The 3 victims all knew each other and were outside of an apartment smoking when they were approached by subjects unknown to them. As the unknown subjects approached the victims they began shooting at them, striking all 3 victims.

IMG_8103The suspects fled the area after the shooting and are outstanding.

The incident shut down Sycamore Drive in both directions at Manzanita Way as police investigated the shooting.

Police said the information being provided was preliminary and Investigators are in the early stages of the investigation. No other information will be released at this time.

This was Antioch’s 6th Homicide of 2015.
