Antioch PAL: “Legos and the Law” a Hit

by ECT

The Antioch Police Activities League hosted its first “Lego’s and the Law” event on Saturday where kids and officers had an opportunity to connect through lego’s.

The event was open to twenty-five boys and girls who wanted to spend the morning with police

Chief Allan Cantando stated the idea came about because of he and his son who like lego’s and wanted to provide an event for young people who do not get a chance to have a lot of activities with police. He stated this was a family event aimed to have fun and to help see police in a positive way.

He called the event a success and future events will be held due to the response of the event filling up in less than two-days.

APD-Legos-IMG_4967“The event was a huge success. We all had a wonderful time,” said Chief  Allan Cantando.  “The highlights for me was watching the positive interaction between the kids and officers and seeing the kids creativity and enthusiasm. I think the kids had the enjoyable experience we were hoping for. Who knows, in 12 to 15 years we may get a few of them to be Officers with the Antioch Police Department.”

Chief Cantando posted the following message on social media.

Today was the first “Legos and the Law” event sponsored by the Antioch Police Activities League. I would like to thank the Moms and Dads that brought your kids to the event…the Cops had a blast! We hope your kids did too!

I would like to thank Cpl. Dean Pfeiffer and Officer Randall Gragg for making this event successful.

I would also like to thank Antioch PAL board members Bill Cook and Tom Hartrick for their participation. Lastly, thanks to Antioch PAL program coordinator Dineen Burdick for all your help!

Sincerely,

Chief Allan Cantando
