Antioch: Man Shot Monday Morning on Homestead Way

On Monday July 23 at approximately 12:46 AM, Antioch Police officers responded to a residence on the 5100 block of Homestead Way for a report of a shooting.

Antioch Police officers arrived and located a male victim, a 34-year-old Antioch resident, in the street suffering from a gunshot wound to his lower body. The suspect, a 37-year-old Antioch resident, also remained at the scene and was detained without incident.

Initial reports were that a burglary suspect was shot, however, police have not yet confirmed the details surrounding the shooting, however, they did say there is much more to the story that they were not releasing at this time.

The suspected firearm used in the incident was also recovered nearby. Officers rendered first aid to the victim until he could be transported to an area hospital.

According to Corporal Gary Lowther, the victim’s injuries were determined to be non-life threatening and the names of the involved parties will not be released at this time.

This incident is still under investigation and anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to contact the Antioch Police Dept. at (925) 778-2441.

Bet this wasnt a burglery…but if it was, im not sure why the homeowner stop shooting while the suspect still had a pulse, finish him off next time.

Doubt this was a burglery, no need to hide a weapon after if you are defending your home.

Could have been using the gun the right way in protection. But if his gun doesn’t have papers then that could be a reason to hide it….

Then it would be a stolen gun and he should be arrested for that too. No reason for a legit home and gun owber to be scared if they are protecting their homes or lives. If it was me, i would have shot more then once and i would be waiting for the cops with a coffee in hand.
