Antioch: Firefighters Limit Damage After Fire Breaks Out at Calvary Church

by ECT

Just before 2:00 pm Monday, Contra Costa County firefighters were dispatched to a report of smoke coming from the Calvary Church in the 1200 block of Putnam Street in Antioch.

While responding, CONFIRE units reported smoke showing and upon arrival located a shed fully involved at the back of the church. Given close proximity of two other structures they requested a second alarm response.

Firefighters quickly made access to the outbuilding and knocked down the fire. The shed was destroyed and there was damage to a nearby building.

The main portion of the church was not damaged.

The second alarm units were quickly released from the incident while PG&E was on scene along with Antioch Police.

No one was injured in the fire which was reported by residents who live behind the church.

Check back for updates as Contra Costa Fire are still on scene investigating the cause and estimating total damages.
