Antioch: Accidental Gunshot Leads Police to Firearms and Honey-Oil Lab

by ECT

On April 15, Antioch Police Department responded to a report of a gunshot into an apartment at 1:11 am in the 2800 block of Gentrytown Drive.

Police say no one was injured as a result of the shooting, however, four men in a nearby apartment were detained and with two men ultimately being arrested.

Police attempted to make contact with residents of an apartment who initially attempted to turn out the lights and not answer the door. After making entry, it was learned that 30 year old James Marasco was carrying his own gun around the apartment and set it down on a patio table when it went off.

A consent search of the apartment located several more firearms, to include an AR15, two hunting rifles, a pistol, a revolver, and a homemade gun.

22 year old AJ Jackson had various narcotics packaged for sales and there was a working Honey-oil Lab on the balcony. All subjects were taken into custody and brought to APD.

27 year old Patrick Smith and 25 year old Michael Matheny were arrested with Marasco and Jackson, but were released pending further investigation.

These apartments are a cesspool for these thugs. If police wanted to, they can patrol these apartments to find drug dealers at all hours, in front of the apartments, where they openly sell drugs, while children are walking by.

So the moral of the story is: don’t stroll around in your house with a loaded gun swinging in your pajama pants and then go place it down on your patio table like a careless buffoon.
