Antioch: 3 Displaced After Garage Fire, 2 Firefighters Suffer Minor Injuries

On March 8 at 1:44 pm, Contra Costa County Fire responded to a report of a residential structure fire in the 1000 block of Putnam St. in Antioch.

While responding, Engine 82 reported a large column of black smoke enroute. Upon arrival, units reported heavy smoke and fire from the garage of the home.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze in approximately 20-minutes after making fire attack and had extensive overhaul needs.

The fire investigator determined the fire started in the garage, but the exact cause of the fire is undetermined.

According to Battalion Chief Jim Huntze, three people were home at the time of the fire and escaped without injury. Meanwhile, two firefighters sustained minor injury.
