Alonzo Terry Appointed as Antioch Unified School District Trustee

On May 4, 2016, the Governing Trustees of the Antioch Unified School District appointed Alonzo Terry to fill a vacancy on the Board of Education due to the resignation of Claire Smith effective April 1, 2016.

According to his application, Terry has worked with the Contra Costa County Sheriffs Office for 19-years performing training, crime prevention and custody alternative (1988-2007). He is also a business owner while has worked with youth as the athletic director for the East County Boys and Girls Club (1992-97).

The appointment becomes effective 30 days following the appointment unless a petition calling for a special election, containing a sufficient number of signatures, is filed with the Office of County Superintendent of Schools. The provisional appointment otherwise continues through December 2016, completing the remainder of the term of Smith.

  • Julie Young – Pampered Chef Consultant

In November, the AUSD appointed Fernando Navarro to fill Barbara Cowan’s seat after she resigned in September. A total of 11-applicants applied for the seat.

Wow I thin Candi would have been an excellent board member. Too bad Antioch couldn’t see this.
