Alissa Geving Wins Winged 360 Sprint Car Feature At Antioch Speedway

by ECT

Taking the lead very early on, third generation racer Alissa Geving drove to an impressive 20 lap Winged 360 Sprint Car Main Event victory Saturday night at Antioch Speedway.  The win extended the streak on non repeat winners in this division to 11 different drivers.  Geving had to hold off a late charge from Justin Sanders.

Sanders was trying an extreme outside line in Turn 4 to gain momentum as the track had gone dry slick.  Sanders even bumped the wall on one occasion, and he would settle for second.  Jake Hauolot made a couple of late moves to go from fifth to third at the finish.  Peter Paulson was fourth as Shawn Arriaga rounded out the Top 5 finishers.

Jimmy Perry III gained the lead and victory on a wild last lap in the Wingless Spec Sprint Main Event.  It was a final lap that saw several positions change.  Alan Miranda had led the 20 lap race from the start.  Going into the final turn, Cody Fendley made a daring inside move, resulting in contact with Miranda that sent both cars spinning.  Perry drove by to collect the surprising victory. Marcus Smith made a last turn pass on the inside to grab second from Ryon Siverling.  Al Ghiorso finished third.

Despite constant pressure from defending track champion Richard Papenhausen, Troy Foulger drove a flawless race to become the fourth different Late Model feature winner of the season in their 20 lap Main Event.  Foulger led from early on.  Jeff Decker was the final lead lap finisher in third.

David Teves won in just his second start in a brand new Dwarf Car.  Teves grabbed the lead from early leader Kevin Miraglio and led the rest of the way for his first 20 lap feature win of the season.  He gained little on point leader Danny Wagner, who finished second ahead of Mike Corsaro.

Point leader Fred Ryland drove to an impressive IMCA Sport Mod 20 lap feature win.  Ron Brown led two laps before spinning in Turn 4.  That put Chuck Golden in the lead, but he surrendered the lead to eventual winner Ryland.  Golden would settle for second, a half lap behind Ryland as Paul Mulder finished third.

Next Saturday night, racing continues at Antioch Speedway with a program consisting of IMCA Modifieds, Limited Late Models, Hobby Stocks, Dwarf Cars and Vintage Hardtops.
