At 11:58 pm Thursday, East Contra Costa firefighters were dispatched to a report of a residential structure fire with smoke and flames showing in the 400 block of Memory Lane in Oakley.<\/p>\n
Battalion Chief Jeff Burris was first on scene where he located two small sheds behind a home fully involved in fire. One of the sheds had been converted into living quarters.<\/p>\n
Engine 94 arrived on scene to provide fire attack between two houses and began to look for occupants. Firefighters located the tenant hiding behind a cinder block wall. The tenant was sent to the hospital as a precaution.<\/p>\n
By 12:15, the fire was reportedly knocked down. The fire destroyed both sheds along with a wooden retaining wall and several trees nearby were damaged.<\/p>\n
The cause of the fire was listed as an unattended cigarette.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
