Video Recap: City of Brentwood Hosts Red Sand Project

by ECT

On March 30, the Contra Costa Human Trafficking Coalition, in collaboration with the City of Brentwood, held a community event to raise awareness for human trafficking by partaking in the Red Sand Project.

The Red Sand Project is an artwork that uses participatory sidewalk interventions to raise awareness by calling attention to the cracks that victims and survivors of human trafficking can often slip through, leaving the issue unaddressed in our communities.

According to the Contra Costa Human Trafficking Coalition, in 2017, there were 1,305 cases of human trafficking while in Contra Costa County, they are serving 250 victims.

By filling cracks with red sand and documenting the transformation on social media with #RedSandProject, participants can help begin conversations about the issue of human trafficking in Contra Costa County.
