Updated: Rio Vista Attempted Murder Suspect Captured in Antioch

On Saturday morning, the Antioch Police Department assisted the Rio Vista Police Department who was in pursuit of an individual wanted for attempted murder with a firearm.

According to police, the suspect entered the City of Antioch and after turning onto W. 19th Street, the suspect stopped the vehicle and fled on foot. A perimeter was established an officers began searching the area.

Based on reports from residents, police began to receive reports of a suspect running through yards and onto the railroad tracks. Police were directed to the area of Lawton St and W. Madill St. where they began searching in that area.

With the assistance of a K-9, the suspect was located and taken into custody.

Participating agencies included the Antioch Police Department, Rio Vista Police, Solano County Sheriffs Office and the California Highway Patrol (air operations).

No other information was released on the incident.

Sept. 28 Update:
According to the Rio Vista Police Department, on Sept. 25 officers took a report for someone brandishing a handgun at a victim in the City of Rio Vista. The suspect was identified, however, officers were unable to locate the suspect.

The next day, at approximately 5:00 am on Sept. 26, officers were called to the area of Virginia Dr. and Highway 12 by the same victim who told dispatch that the same suspect was chasing him with a firearm. The suspect was in a gold Honda car chasing the victim when he fired two rounds from a handgun. The suspect continued driving after the victim and then fired another round before onto eastbound Highway 12 and out of the city. The victim was shot at, but not hit by any gunfire.

Rio Vista Police then located the suspect in his vehicle on Highway 12 and Highway 160.

Officers pursued the vehicle to the City of Antioch where he exited the vehicle and fled on foot. After three hours of chasing and searching for the subject, he was found hiding in the bed of a truck and taken into custody.

The suspect was identified as Thomas Ruscigno, 32 of the City of Antioch. He was booked into Solano County Jail for charges that included attempted murder and vehicle evasion.

Wondering if this was the shooter on the Delta Loop in rural Isleton. A gunshot victim was life-flighted off the Loop this morning. Hoping it was him so residents can relax.

There is a murder living in Hillcrest, just because he looks white the police are not arresting him.
