Updated: Pittsburg Principal Shot and in Critical Condition, Wife Arrested for Attempted Murder

The Pittsburg Police Department said Saturday that at 1:20 A.M, officers responded to a residence on Barrie Drive in regard to a shooting.

When officers and medical personnel arrived they found a 44 year-old man with a gunshot wound. The man was transported to a local hospital and is currently in critical condition on life support.

The Pittsburg Police Department Investigations Division responded to the scene and took over the investigation. Detectives are working on contacting witnesses and obtaining additional statements. Based on initial information, it appears the man and his wife were involved in a domestic altercation prior to the shooting.

Additional information and the names of those involved are being withheld at this time said police.

UPDATE

On Saturday March 16, 2019, Pittsburg officers responded to a residence on Barrie Drive in regard to a shooting. When officers and medical personnel arrived they found a 45 year-old man, identified as Paul Shatswell, with a gunshot wound. The man was transported to a local hospital and is currently in critical condition on life support.

The Pittsburg Police Department Investigations Division responded to the scene. It was later determined during a domestic altercation the man’s wife, 39 year old Maria Vides, shot him with a handgun. She was arrested and booked into County Jail for attempted murder. No one else was injured and the firearm was recovered at the residence.

  1. What a horrible thing to happen! What kind of argument would lead to such a tragedy? I shudder to even think of it.
