Traffic Cops Net 147 Citations During Proactive Detail in East Contra Costa

by ECT

April is National Distracted Driving Awareness Month and local law enforcement in Contra Costa County has kicked off the month with an increase in traffic safety enforcement. On Monday, the Brentwood Police Department kicked off their year-long campaign with additional patrol for the Obey the Sign or Pay the fine.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, Antioch Police, Brentwood Police, Oakley Police, Pittsburg Police and the California Highway Patrol (CHP) held their monthly proactive traffic enforcement detail where they patrolled streets in the City of Antioch and City of Oakley resulting in 147 tickets/citations including one felony arrest, 1 warrant arrest and 1 pursuit.

This video is from footage shot Monday & Tuesday, while Antioch Police Officer Eric Johnsen explains a bit about traffic enforcement.

Note – the enforcement detail was delayed in the morning due to rain so this was partial day.

Our police officers deserve huge support and recognition from all of us for their daily dedicated extremely difficult, dangerous and painstaking endeavors in order to keep us safe. With today’s increase in vehicles on our streets and freeways, far too often operated by inconsiderate drivers, traffic control has become priority for our police departments. Congratulations to the efforts of all of our traffic control officers for keeping our roadways safer by enforcing our traffic laws. BRAVO ! ( thank you Mike for including this segment in East County Today’s News ).
