Home Brentwood Sunday: Deer Ridge Golf Course Closes for Good

Sunday: Deer Ridge Golf Course Closes for Good

by ECT

In case you missed it, today is the last day that the Deer Ridge Golf Club will take tee times as they are set to permanently close.

The course, which opened in 2004 off Balfour Road in the City of Brentwood will now see a similar fate as Shadow Lakes Golf Course.

Deer Ridge announced this week that due to financial conditions and increased costs for maintenance and operational costs while also having lower revenues, they were forced to close.

According to sources within the City of Brentwood, there is currently a plan in place that could open the possibility to Shadow Lakes Course re-opening but nothing is concrete yet.

Only a handful of golf courses for East Contra Costa County residents remain which include Lone Tree Golf Course in Antioch, the Discovery Bay Country Club, or The Golf Club at Brentwood (Summerset) or in Concord at Diablo Creek.

This is truly sad. My parents live at Shadow Lakes which now is basically a goat pasture and fire hazard.

Perfectly fine with it closing. Rather have open space, than the proposed development.

Yes I agree, However I think this is just the Owners of the two courses trying to manipulate the city and residents. Be nice to see the property sold to a Company that is in the Golf Course business not real estate.
