Sacramento County and El Dorado County Sheriffs Offices Will Not Enforce Governors Curfew Order

by ECT

In response to a Governor Gavin Newsom’s curfew order today, the El Dorado County Sheriffs and Sacramento County Sheriffs Offices announced they would not determine compliance, not prevent thanksgiving activities, maximum occupancies or mask wearing mandates within their respective county.

The statement was released shortly after Newsom announced the 1-month curfew. Under the order,  non-essential work and gatherings must stop from 10pm-5am in counties in the purple tier. This will take effect at 10pm on Saturday and remain for 1 month.

Here is the responses:

Sacramento County Sheriff

“In response to much social uncertainty and numerous inquiries, I wanted to clarify the position of the Sacramento Sheriff’s Office relative to existing health orders, as well as any potential impending orders at the County or State level.
The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office will not be determining—including entering any home or business—compliance with, or enforcing compliance of, any health or emergency orders related to curfews, staying at home, Thanksgiving or other social gatherings inside or outside the home, maximum occupancy, or mask mandates. Further, we will not dispatch officers for these purposes—callers will be advised to call 3-1-1 and be routed to County Health. Of course, if there is potential criminal behavior or the potential for impacts to public or personal safety we will continue to respond appropriately.
I would like to wish everyone a happy and meaningful Thanksgiving Holiday.”-Sheriff Scott Jones

El Dorado County Sheriffs Office

Sergeant Eric Palmberg

On November 19, 2020, The California Department of Public Health issued a curfew order for the State of California. The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office is aware and will not be enforcing this curfew order.

El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office deputies will not be determining compliance with, or enforcing the compliance of, any health order related to this curfew. The Sheriff’s Office will not prevent Thanksgiving activities, maximum occupancies, or mask wearing mandates at social gatherings within the County of El Dorado. Calls received by The Sheriff’s Office regarding enforcement of any COVID related orders will be referred to the El Dorado County Department of Public Health at 530-621-6100.

We will still address reports of criminal activity related to public safety and our El Dorado County citizens. The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office will continue to uphold the Constitution of the United States of America.

Irresponsible and reckless behavior from elected law enforcement leaders. If anything, these folks should lead the way and encourage compliance with an order that is meant to protect public health and an effort to cub the pandemic. Considering the counties involved, however, I am not at all surprised

On the contrary, they are correct. Police agencies are neither staffed or equipped to enforce non-criminal regulations.

That’s because they know this is blown way out of proportion and our Governor is an idiot. Not like you sheep who believe everything they read instead of researching the facts. Put on your mask and stay inside. If that’s what you want. But don’t make everyone suffer over nothing.

Ordering this “curfew” is useless UNLESS it is enforced and that can be done easily. The law enforcement people should GET OFF THEIR FAT ASSES and hit the streets!

It’s not “the streets” that are the primary problem. It’s stupid people partying in indoor venues. That’s where virus transmission occurs.
