Pittsburg: Vegetation Fire Caused by Downed Power Line

At 3:46 pm Tuesday, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District firefighters responded to a report of a vegetation fire in the area of the Pittsburg-Antioch Highway and Loveridge Road.

According to the caller, the fire was started by a downed power line which caused the vegetation below to catch fire.

By 3:51 pm, battalion 8 confirmed at least 1 wire down and the call was 1-mile east of Loveridge. He described the fire as a “small vegetation fire”.

The fire was out by 4:00 pm.

  1. In other States in America a downed wire goes unnoticed. People approach and get electrocuted. In California a downed wire causes a fire that keeps people away. Except when fire spreads across private property with unmanaged vegetation.
