Oakley Seeks Input on $50 Million Community Park

by ECT

The City of Oakley invites the public to provide input which will form the future of the Oakley Community Park.

Having recently received the properties which will become the City of Oakley’s biggest park, the city is asking for input. They are asking the community to assist them in review and refine conceptional plans that they say is necessary for the parks’ development. The estimated cost is over $50 million, requiring a phased approach as well as seeking grants and partners.

The 55-acre park site is located at the north end of Sellers Road where the access point to the property is a 1,666 acres of restored wetlands by the California Department of Water Resources which is the Dutch Slough Tidal Marsh Restoration project.

The city is currently looking at ball fields, picnic areas, restrooms, playgrounds, trails, boat launch and other items.

Upcoming Opportunities:

  • Saturday, April 13 at the Oakley Recreation Center Grand Opening at 1250 O’Hara Avenue
  • Wednesday, April 17 at the City Council Chambers during a community workshop, 3231 Main St.

Like I said the last time this article posted, add PICKLE BALL courts. Concord has 14 pickle ball courts and on Saturdays they’re all full and people are waiting. East County has a demand for pickle ball courts too!
