Oakley: Reckless Driving Leads to Pursuit and Vehicle Crash on Norcross Lane

by ECT

At 11:14 am Tuesday, the Oakley Police Department took a man into custody after he reportedly was reckless driving within City of Oakley limits and within the City of Antioch before crashing on Norcross Lane.

According to police, they said the man was driving reckless in the Bridghead and Main Street area when he entered the city of Antioch. A short time later, he returned to Oakley where he was driving reckless on Oakley Road near Empire before going down Main Street. Law Enforcement attempted to stop him in front of the police station before he collided with a police vehicle.

He then ended up on Norcross Lane off Main Street where he hopped a curb and struck a tree.

Police said they were worried about his driving as he nearly hit two pedestrians who were walking and the close proximity of the school. He was detained and taken to a local hospital.

Police suspect he possibly was under the influence of a substance other than alcohol but could not confirm it.

No other injuries were reported.

No other details were released.
