Oakley Police Make Arrest in Hit and Run Crash

by ECT

On May 17th Oakley Police Department units were dispatched to a hit and run accident that occurred at Empire Ave and Gateway Dr. Upon arrival, a woman was located with serious injuries.

She had been struck by a vehicle. A helpful citizen provided a tip. Investigators acting on the information and utilizing our intersection camera system were able to identify the suspect driver as Alec LaPierre, a 20 year old Oakley resident.

The case was presented to the Grand Jury for review, and criminal charges were filed. Mr. LaPierre was arrested this morning and booked into County Jail on charges of felony hit and run, fraud and filing a false police report. He is being held in lieu of $105,000 bail.

This was an excellent example of our community partnering with the Oakley Police Department to bring this case to a successful resolution. Thank you to all who assisted!
