MARTINEZ – In lieu of the annual 4th of July Parade and the Fireworks Show which were canceled due to COVID, the City is pleased to announce some additional July 4th activities at Waterfront Park scheduled for Sunday, July 4th.

The Joe DiMaggio Hometown Hero Project will be displaying the famous Joltin’ Joe 22-foot Chris Craft pleasure boat starting at 10 a.m. near Field 3 of the Waterfront Park Joe DiMaggio Ballfields. The prestige surrounding the Joltin’ Joe was elevated when Joe took his new bride, Marilyn Monroe, for a cruise on the San Francisco Bay in 1954 during their wedding reception. The boat was donated to the City of Martinez in 1991 and restored to museum quality by the Sons of Italy, Diablo Valley Lodge #2167. Representatives of the Hometown Hero Project will be selling branded merchandise to help fund future projects related to celebrating Joe DiMaggio.

Later that day, the Martinez Sturgeon of the Pecos League will host a game against the San Rafael Pacifics at 2:00 pm. Tickets for this family-friendly activity can be purchased at the door or online at www.martinezsturgeon.com.
