Marsh Creek Cleanup & Trash Data Collection in Brentwood

The Contra Costa Resource Conservation District and Friends of Marsh Creek are looking for a few good volunteers to help do the annual trash assessment on Marsh Creek! This is a great opportunity volunteer/community service hours, to meet other people interested in the environment, and to get outdoors!
The trash assessment happens annually at 3 locations around Brentwood. You can make a big difference in a short amount of time!
What is a trash Assessment?
It covers a stretch of creek that has been monitored annually for over 10 years. Volunteers count how much trash they pick up on a 100 foot stretch.
Why is it important?
The data we gather is used to see trends in the type of litter making its way into our creeks, and can help guide policy and practices in the county to reduce litter. Through trash assessments we were able to see the impact that plastic bags were having on our environment, and provide data to help get a plastic bag ban.
There are two meeting locations:
When you RSVP for a ticket, pick which location you would like to volunteer at.
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
There is no age requirement, there are activities for all ages. Children under 18 must have a waiver signed by their parent/guardian
What can I bring into the event?
- Please download, print and bring a signed waiver (parent signed if volunteer is under 18).

- Wear closed toe shoes that can get wet and/or dirty,
- It is recommended you wear layered clothing as it can start out cool and warm up as the day goes by.
- Sunscreen & hats are recommended.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
No, you do not have to bring a printed ticket. We will have a sign in sheet there.
