Bird Photography Field Shoot at Lindsay Wildlife
June 15 @ 1:30 pm - 5:00 pm
This terrific class is led by photographer and Olympus staff member, Steve Ball. Steve is a nature photographer based in the Pacific Northwest, with a serious passion for bird photography and its diversity of habitats and environments. He will be here on Saturday June 15th to impart his tips and tricks, helping you get the bird photos you want as you shoot at Lindsay Wildlife Experience in Walnut Creek. Olympus will be providing demo gear to test and try as well. The photoshoot will run from 2-5pm.
The Lindsay Wildlife Experience (lindsaywildlife.org) is a non-profit that saves animals lives, teaches and inspires children and adults through up-close-and personal encounters with live wild animals, and strengthens the connection between people and the natural world. For our photography experience, we’ll get to meet and photograph the following birds: Bald Eagle, Barn Owl, Great Grey Owl, Harris Hawk, Swainsons Hawk and Western Screech Owl.
We ask that each student please arrive up to 30-45 minutes early (as early as 1:15pm) to meet and greet the team and get checked in. We will also have Olympus lenses and cameras you can try, and we’ll need to have you set-up with that anything you want to borrow before the picture taking begins at 2:00pm. Steve will also help you with some tips and camera setting suggestions before we begin.
At 2:00pm, the super fun begins! We’ll meet some birds, learn a bit about their story from Lindsay Wildlife, and have fun taking photos up close and personal. This is the first of two photo sessions and will last until 3:00pm. Steve will give tips and tricks along the way.
At 3:00pm, we’ll head into Lindsay Wildlife’s classroom for an hour long break. During our break we will provide feedback on photos, tips on shooting, as well as light refreshments and time to answer any questions you might have. Then we head back out for our final photo session at 4:00pm.
At 4:00pm, we’ll have another hour with more birds! We’ll get to apply what we’ve learned, and will have Steve with us the whole time to answer questions and provide advice.
