DeSaulnier Introduces Constitutional Amendment Guaranteeing a Right to a Quality Education

Rep Mark DeSaulnier

Washington, DC – Congressman Mark DeSaulnier (CA-11) announced the introduction of a Constitutional amendment (H.J.Res. 69) guaranteeing the right to a quality, public education to all students. This legislation affirms that the federal government has a Constitutional obligation to ensure that every citizen receives a world-class education, and supports the federal role in education policy and funding.

“America’s founders felt that a free public education was a necessity for an informed citizenry and a functioning democracy. For too long, we have accepted that millions of students sit in unheated classrooms, with underpaid teachers, using outdated instructional materials. This is an appalling betrayal of our nation’s values,” said Congressman DeSaulnier. “This amendment would obligate the federal government to ensure that all students exit high school prepared to contribute to our democracy.”

Congressman DeSaulnier is a member of the House Committee on Education and Labor.

What kind of “quality” education? A GOOD quality education or a POOR quality education. Just saying “Quality” means nothing.

Maybe the good congressman should be required to take a remedial class in the ENGLISH LANGUAGE!

It’s called “ feel good “ legislation. Legislation that has no real impact and let’s the politicians “ feel like” they are doing something besides wasting taxpayer dollars while in office. It is common with low tier legislators.
