Contra Costa Animal Services Offering Free Adoptions to Alleviate Overcrowded Shelters

by ECT

Promotion offered at CCAS’ Martinez & Pinole adoption centers to clear space with shelters at capacity

Martinez, CA – Contra Costa Animal Services (CCAS) will be offering free adoptions of all animals on Saturday, March 9th, in an effort to clear shelter space. The free adoption special includes most fees associated with adopting an animal, including: adoption fees, spay/neuter, micro-chipping and vaccination (avg. cost of adoption is between $104-$284). However, new adopters will be required to license their animal.

Interested adopters can take advantage of this free adoption promotion by visiting CCAS’ Martinez and Pinole adoption centers to meet our animals and adopt their new family member.

Additionally, on Saturday, March 16th, CCAS will be hosting our 9th Annual St. Pitty’s Day event, which includes free adoptions of all bully breeds (all other animals will have a reduced cost adoption fee of $25). This annual event is an opportunity to showcases our wonderful bully breed shelter dogs, enlighten and educate the public about this amazing breed and highlight the work of our rescue/transfer groups who specialize in this breed of dog.

How can I get help to write a new law that will fine people caught breeding dogs with out a breeders licence and proper facility. The animal abuse and neglect and OVER BREEDING IS ENOUGH. Also if you get a puppy 5 classes and a small instruction on daily obedience training should be included. If we don’t make people feel the weight of irresponsible breeding in the pocket book they will never stop. A slap on the wrist is just not going to cut it any more! I do not know where to source the information required to wide a law get it on a ballot and in front of the public’s vote. Anyone who can help me or has any ideas please email me. I would really appreciate any advice!. ([email protected]
