CHP: Vegetation Fire Impacts Highway 4 Traffic Through Pittsburg

At 1:04 pm Thursday, the Contra Costa Fire Protection District responded to a vegetation fire near eastbound Highway 4 at Loveridge in the City of Pittsburg.

The incident impacted Highway 4 traffic and shutdown all lanes of traffic at approximately 1:19 pm as fire crews worked the scene.

By 2:30 pm, 3 lanes of traffic were open according to CHP as firefighters had limited the fire to approximately 2-acres.  The #4 & 5 lanes will remain closed temporarily.

This keeps up, there won’t be vegetation left to burn!

That is an area with a lot of traffic and also one can see what’s going on from the top floor of the Hampton Inn as well as the gas station right in that exact area. So, who is setting these fires? They don’t just start by themselves. There should be security cameras up and down Hwy 4 … positioned in such a way that they can pick up information from license plates and also people in the cars going in BOTH directions.

I agree is someone is starting these fires and more effort needs to be made in finding and arresting the person responsible. Like we afford to waste the water or resources putting out all these fires.
