CHP Says 27-Year-Old Man Dies in Byron Highway Crash

by ECT

The California Highway Patrol said a 27-year-old man has died after crash on Byron Highway near Holey Road in the Town of Byron earlier Monday morning.

The crash occurred at approximately 2:00 am when CHP was advised of the solo crash. Upon arrival, it was reported the driver was located outside of the 2019 Dodge Charger and lying on the dirt shoulder. He suffered major injuries and was transported by ambulance to Kaiser Medical center in Antioch but was pronounced deceased at the hospital by emergency personnel.

The Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Coroners Office will be handling the release of identity of the deceased male.

CHP says in their initial investigation, it appears the male driver was traveling in the Dodge Charger southbound on Byron Hwy at a high rate of speed and was unable to negotiate the sweeping turn of the roadway of Byron Hwy. As a result, he drove off the roadway and collided into the dirt shoulder causing the vehicle to roll over several times. During the rollover, the driver who appeared to be unrestrained by a seatbelt, was ejected through the sunroof onto the dirt shoulder causing major injuries. Once the driver was transported he was declared deceased at the hospital.

At this time it is unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor but this incident is still under investigation. If anyone witnessed this collision or the events leading up to it, please contact Contra Costa CHP in Martinez at (925) 646-4980.

I’m going to pray for your soul… Someone lost their Son….”Another one bites the dust” is an uncalled remark for this news story!!! Have some consideration and I hope no one in your family bites the dust…Jerk

Incredibly sad. Another your person driving to fast and without a seat belt, gone way to soon. SLOW DOWN put on a damn seat belt PLEASE. I lost a bother in the same manner. My condolences to his friends and family.
