CHP Reporting Fatal Crash Involving Golf Cart in Discovery Bay

by ECT

This past Sunday night at about 10:35pm, Contra Costa CHP was advised of a solo vehicle crash at the address of 450 Discovery Bay Blvd in the Town of Discovery Bay.

Upon emergency personnel and CHP arrival, a golf cart was involved in a crash with a parked pickup truck in the driveway of the same address. It was determined that a 74yr old female (from Discovery Bay with the same address) had been struck by the golf cart that was being operated by her 8yr old grandson. The female was assisting her grandson back out of the garage when the grandson accelerated the golf cart at full speed in reverse, striking the female.

Tragically she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene. The Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Coroners Office will be handling the release of identity of the deceased female.

This is a tragic and sad incident for all individuals involved.

8 year old driving a golf cart is cute, until it isn’t.

Grace is right, MARIA! You DO NOT let a kid that age anywhere near a golf cart of any kind of vehicle. It was NOT an “accident” — as there is no such thing. There is cause and effect and this is a prime example of it. People don’t use their brains and this is what happens! Let this be a lesson for everyone. Sorry for the grandmother’s demise due to such carelessness!

Sorry for that Granny’s demise. What was she thinking letting the kid ride that thing? How did that turn out for her! I hope the kid gets a lot of therapy because he’ll need it.
