The California Highway Patrol is investigating a shooting occurred on Vasco Road and Marsh Creek Road in eastern Contra Costa County.
The shooting, which took place just before 8:55 PM on Thursday night, caused fatal gunshot injuries to the driver and sole occupant of a dark grey Nissan Altima who was traveling on eastbound Vasco Road near Marsh Creek Road. It appears that after the shooting the Nissan veered of the roadway and into a corn field where it came to rest. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
Several bullet holes were located on the passenger side of the Nissan. This shooting appears to have been targeted. Currently there is no suspect information regarding this incident.
Detectives assigned to CHP – Golden Gate Division Investigative Services Unit (ISU) are actively investigating this shooting. Our detectives are requesting assistance from the public in gathering the details surrounding this incident.
